Your new private specimen collection, screening and care center

Yes. As the specimen collection, blood work and analysis HekaLab is private, there is a fee for the services and nursing care it offers. Receipts are issued for all our services, and you can then submit them to your insurance company. You can also keep your invoices to include them in the calculation of your tax credit for medical expenses.

Most group and private insurance plans in Quebec will reimburse all or part of the costs you paid to receive specimen and blood collection, screening and analysis services from the private HekaLab centre. Ask your insurance company for more information since each plan is different. You can also keep your receipt to include it in the calculation of your tax credit for medical expenses.

It depends on the service requested. For example, a blood, urine, stool or throat sample, as well as the Harmony prenatal test, require a prescription from a doctor, whereas services such as STI screening (gonorrhoea, chlamydia, etc.) provided by our sexual health clinic do not require a prescription. Please consult the Our services page to determine which care or test requires a doctor's prescription.

You will be able to access your lab results through the secure online health portal of our private testing service partner, Dynacare Plus. During your appointment at HekaLab, the nurse will give you an information card to sign up for the portal. Most test results are sent within 24 hours (depending on the time of the sample and the type of test performed). Any clinically significant abnormal results will be promptly reported by phone to your health care professional.

Yes, specimen sampling services (blood tests, urine tests, stool tests, throat tests and strep tests) are offered to children aged 7 years and older at our private centre in Montréal.

HekaLab welcomes patients with an appointment as well as walk-in patients in its spacious facilities located within steps of other health businesses, including a Uniprix pharmacy and the Angus medical clinic.

Yes, although we encourage patients to book their appointment through our website or by calling 514-373-0545 , we also welcome walk-ins for specimen samplings and blood work. Please note that a referral from a doctor is required for some tests and specimen collections.
